Our method

Structured, verified and regularly updated information

Miradi's credibility rests on a rigorous method: how programs are identified, by what criteria they are included, how information is verified and maintained over time.

Proactive collection Data verification Regular updates Homogeneous categories

Why a method?

Information on private sector support programs in Africa is scattered, heterogeneous and often difficult to access. It is published by dozens of donors, operators and institutions in very different formats, languages and channels.

Miradi Platform does not merely aggregate information but verifies, classifies and contextualises it to make it truly readable for those who need it.

This page explains how we work. It is here so you can assess the reliability of what you consult — and so you can help us do better.

How a program enters Miradi

From identification to publication, each program follows a 5-step process before appearing on the platform.

1

Identification

We detect programs through active monitoring: donor institutional websites (World Bank, AFD, GIZ, Enabel, UNDP…), government portals, international aid databases, official press releases and specialised press. Our field knowledge and discussions complement this collection.

2

Integration criteria

A program is integrated into Miradi if it meets the following criteria:

3

Verification

Each piece of information is cross-checked with at least one official primary source (project document, donor press release, annual report). Financial data, beneficiaries and intervention areas are specifically verified. In case of doubt, the program is not published. We also try to contact a member of the organisation to validate our information.

4

Categorisation

Each program is classified according to a grid to enable precise comparisons and searches:

5

Update

Program fact sheets are updated when new official information is available, and undergo a systematic monthly review. The last update date is displayed on each fact sheet. Completed programs are kept and archived to maintain the ecosystem's memory.

Coverage scope

Miradi is transparent about what it covers today and what is still outside its scope.

What Miradi covers

  • Private sector support programs funded by international public donors (World Bank, AFD, GIZ, ENABEL, EU, ADB…)
  • Technical assistance, capacity building and market access programs
  • Sectoral initiatives (agribusiness, digital, energy, climate…) when they target the private sector
  • Ongoing programs and those completed in the last 5 years
  • African countries with progressive coverage based on data availability

What Miradi does not yet cover

  • Local micro-initiatives without available official documentation
  • Programs for which no verifiable primary source is accessible
  • Exhaustive coverage of all African countries from launch — we progress country by country
  • Updated links to calls for applications linked to entrepreneur support programs

Frequently asked questions about our method

What users ask us most often.

You can report any error or outdated information via the contact form. We process each report within 5 business days.
Yes, and we strongly encourage suggestions. If you know of a private sector support program that meets our criteria but is not yet in Miradi, contact us via the dedicated form. Please attach a link to the program's official source if possible.
Each program fact sheet displays a last update date at the bottom of the page. You can also create an alert to be automatically notified of updates on programs that interest you.
Miradi's sector categories are inspired by classifications used by major international donors (OECD-DAC, World Bank) while being adapted to African realities. A program can belong to multiple sectors. We revise these categories annually.
Program fact sheets are freely viewable if you are subscribed to Miradi Média. For any reuse for research, publication or integration into other tools, please contact us.
